2023-2024 Battle of the Fans Challenge!

Are you ready to show off your Student Section to see which school(s) have the most FUN and create the optimal environment in support of their student athletes in the entire San Diego Section of CIF? The 2023-2024 Battle of the Fans Program is back for another year, celebrating the Excitement, School Pride, Support, and Sportsmanship modeled by Student Sections throughout the San Diego Section of CIF! This year we are challenging ALL EIGHT CONFERENCES in our great section to join the Battle of the Fans (BOTF) contest. From the South Bay to North County, and from the Coast to the Imperial Valley our student sections are unrivaled throughout the state of California! Now is the time for your school to join the challenge and show us what it means to be a (Insert School Mascot Here)!


For the 2023-24 Challenge, we are offering schools 3 different ways to join the Challenge!


Option 1: Fan Vote!

Option 2: Conference Champion!

Option 3: Open Division Champion!


Along with the support of our new 2024 BOTF partner, California Canopy, we are excited to see the BOTF program continue to grow across all of our Conferences that make up the San Diego Section!!! Don’t miss this opportunity to show everyone in San Diego who has the Top Student Section in not only your community, but the entire San Diego Section!


HOW TO ENTER

1. Let your ASB/Student Activities Director know that you want your school to join the 2024 Battle of the Fans Challenge!


2. Work with your ASB & Site Leadership to develop a plan for the year that:


Models the Principles of Pursuing Victory with Honor in supporting the student athlete’s of your school in all sports throughout the Fall, Winter, & Spring

Open & Actively recruits all students groups across your campus, and school staff to participate

Have Fun!!!!!


3. Determine which option of participation is the best fit for your school:


Fan Vote:

Create a 1 to 2 minute video that highlights your school and student section. Make sure you focus on what sets your school apart!

Top videos will be presented on Kusi and one winner will be chosen!


Conference Champion:

Create a 2 to 3 minute video that highlights your school and student section. Video must include:

Students supporting multiple sports!

Include how your school focuses on Sportsmanship.

Make sure you include information on why your student section should be the Conference Champion!

CIF Representatives will work with your Conference Leadership to determine the Champion(s) of each Conference!


Open Division Champion:

Create a 3 minute or less video that shows why your school should be considered one of top student sections in the entire section. Make sure to include:

Students supporting multiple sports from the Fall, Winter, & Spring!

Include how your school focuses on Sportsmanship & Inclusion of all students

Information on the Student Leadership Structure for your school that supports your student section

Make sure you include information on why your student section should be the Open Division Champion!


4. Upload your video to Youtube by midnight on April 1, 2024

Send a copy of your 2023-2024 Battle of Fans Challenge, and Link to your Video to botf@CIFsds.org by midnight on April 1, 2024. Make sure to include which option of participation you are selecting for the year!

EVALUATION PROCESS

The CIF San Diego Section will work with Media Partner KUSI to determine the 2023-2024 Battle of the Fans Challenge, Fan Vote Champions for the Year!!!


The CIF San Diego Section will review all submissions & will work with the leadership of each of our conferences to determine the winners of each Battle of the Fans Challenge, Conference Champion(s)!


The CIF San Diego Section Office will review all the submissions for the Battle of the Fans Challenge, Open Division Champion(s) and will make the final determinations on all Champion(s) based upon:


Video Submission

Evaluation of Student Section at Athletic Events

Evaluation of Student Leadership

School & Conference Leadership Discussion

Schools’ Continued focus on Improving Sportsmanship


JUDGING CRITERIA

Your videos will be judged on: Sportsmanship, School Spirit, Originality and Student Section Leadership. Be as loud and positive as possible! Sportsmanship, Inclusion, & Service are keys to success!
